Johnny Appleseed

What have you tried at home or school?

Welcome back to Tried It Tuesday!  We are linking up again with the amazing Fourth Grade Flipper's Tried It Tuesday to share a few ideas of what works in our classroom!

This Tuesday we are FALLing into Autumn!

First we read a fun fall story"We're Going on a Leaf Hunt" by Steve Metzger.  It's similar to "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" except the children stop and gather things.  The words are very engaging and this is a great book to "fall into."

Of course, we had to go on an actual leaf hunt!  Since where we live there aren't many colorful leaves to choose from so we decided to make some beautiful colored leaves of our own from our leaf collection!  We discussed our leaves

We started out making the apple pie!  We had a great time preparing the apple pie mixture and talking about the steps to make the pie.  We finished with an apple tasting, graphing activity!
Like our graphing activity?  We used the graphing activity from our JOHNNY APPLESEED math & literacy pack!  Click below to see more!

This literacy and math packet is available in my Teachers Pay Teachers Store.  It comes with a booklet that's available in color and black & white so your little ones can color it!

Also included in this packet: If You Feed Johnny Appleseed an Apple Game, original number matching activity. This Johnny Appleseed Subtracting & Adding activity is an active learning activity so students can actually feed Johnny Appleseed apple manipulatives. This would be great for math centers/ work stations to practice counting and number recognition Just print, laminate, and cut!
