Camping Theme

For our upcoming camping theme, we created an original book called If You Give a Moose a Marshmallow, inspired by the Laura Numeroff series.  In addition to the booklet, we created an original camping counting game, in which we actually feed a moose marshmallow manipulatives!   Of course, we then counted real marshmallows with our moose finger puppet.  Take a look, we are having a blast with our camping theme!

The camping booklet and counting activity are available in my Teachers Pay Teachers Store.  It's also available in Spanish!

I just added the Fill-in-the-blanks version here.

This is the black and white booklet

Available in English and Spanish!

Camping Theme Books!

One afternoon a few friends came over so we decided to camp indoors!!

The tent fit perfectly in our living room!

The lantern is really cool, it illuminates the night sky and has a lantern feature!

Our indoor camping gear!

The tent was super fast and easy to set up!

The stack-able s'mores were a big hit!  The hat we found at the dollar store!

Indoor S'mores

We made them in our toaster!  Just break the graham cracker in half, lay it down on a baking sheet.  Top with 1/4 chocolate bar and 1 marshmallow.  Toast about 3-5 minutes and top immediately with remaining graham cracker half.

1/2 cup sugar
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1 egg
3/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup buttermilk
3 Tbsp butter(unsalted)
1 tsp vanilla

For the Glaze:
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
4 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

Step 2: In a medium bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, and sugar together, set aside.

Step 3: Microwave butter for 30 seconds.  Once butter is melted, transfer it to a small bowl.  In the same small bowl, whisk together  the butter, egg, buttermilk, and vanilla extract.

Step 4: Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until combined.  If dough seems to thick, try adding a tablespoon of milk.

Step 5: Fill each doughnut pan 3/4 full(not all the way like ours)!

Step 6: Bake for 10 minutes, let cool for another 10.

Step 7: While the donuts are cooling, whisk together the glaze ingredients in a small bowl.

Step 8: Dip your doughnuts in the glaze and set them on a piece of parchment paper.

Step 9: Decorate immediately, before the glaze hardens!  Don't forget to share with daddy, Happy Father's Day!
