I "Heart" Painting! To add some pizazz to our Valentine's Day freebie we sponge-painted a cover page.  We started off by sponging red and pink hearts onto a sheet of white cardstock paper.  We used our heart- shaped sponges that we found from the dollar bins at Target.

Once the paint was dry, we hole punched the sides of our booklet and cover page, then, tied them together with twine.  I really loved how this turned out!  How do you plan on celebrating Valentine's Day with your little ones?

Sweet Science! Who says don't play with your food?  Conversation hearts are so much fun to play with!  With just a few simple ingredients, and only a few minutes to prep, try out this Valentine's Day science experiment.

All you need for this easy science experiment is:

 -6 conversation hearts
 -baking soda

In a glass, combine 1 cup of water, 1/4 cup of vinegar, and 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and divide evenly into 6 separate cups.  Then add the candy hearts, and observe!

Mail the Valentine Game! Need ad fun and easy way to practice those tricky letters, like b and d? We played "Mail the Valentine."  A simple game that can be adapted to suit your little ones needs.
We started out by taking an empty box and cutting out a slit at the top.  Then we had a blast decorating our "mail box." Before we got started,  we wrote down all of those tricky letters onto a set of foam hearts.  First, I asked for the letter, then, we found the valentine and  "mailed" it.

Here's a video that can also help with b and d. How do you teach those confusing letter reversals?
