Zoo Vocabulary!
Zoo Vocabulary! I added 12 vocab cards to help us get started.  We laminated the zoo vocabulary cards so we could trace the words with dry erase markers, erase, and trace again!  !

Zoo Booklet!

Zoo Booklet! This Zoo booklet was such a great activity and really got us excited about our big trip to the zoo.  Over the past two weeks we have had a blast filling out, coloring, cutting/pasting, and putting together our zoo booklets

5 Little Monkeys Freebie!

The first time we read the song we pointed out all of the rhyming words.  The second time, we sang it and acted it out the subtraction using our monkeys and crocodile.  By the third time, we were definitely engaged. This song quickly became a favorite! After the pocket chart, we practiced showed off our subtraction skills in our 5 Little Monkeys Emergent Reader.

ZOO Animals Unit!

ZOO Animals Unit! Are you planning a Zoo Day?  With our latest ZOO Animals unit, you and your kiddos can take a trip to the zoo in your very own classroom!

After we read about the animals we wrote down the information we learned.
We also wrote the about the similarities and differences between some of the animals.

To really make our Virtual Zoo field trip come to life, we made these cute suitcases to hold all of our completed work and I even passed out pretend Zoo tickets.
We really loved designing our very own Zoo maps!

Here's one of the writing topics from the Zoo Unit. To see more, click on the image  below.

Mother's Day Gift idea!

After our delicious breakfast, we made these adorable mother's day keepsakes.

Materials Used:

Clay Pot(Michael's $1.99 each)
Patio Paint (Michael's $1.99 each)
1 bag of Super Moss(Michael's about $6)
Styrofoam (Jo Ann's $3)
6 Silk yellow flowers (Jo Ann's $1.99)
Daisy flower clips (Jo Ann's for $1.99 each)
Glue gun

Do it Yourself Mother's Day Flower Pot

Step 1 Paint the pots(ours took three coats)

Step 2 When paint is dry, decorate.

Step 3 Glue the styrofoam into the pot.

Step 4 Take the silk flowers and cut/separate the stems.  When you are finished, stick them down into the center of the styrofoam.

Step 5 Take a piece of moss, cut out a circle about the size of the pot and  then, fold it in half, and cut a small hole from the center of the moss(so the stem will slide through).

Step 6 Slide the moss over the stem and glue onto the top the styrofoam.

Step 7 Cut the tag of off the daisy and clip onto the stem.

What are your plans for Mother's Day?
